This is the first TES Mailbox, once or twice a month I’ll be answering questions from the community in the following format. I hope you enjoy.
Do you play TES instead of ANT because you think it is better or because you are more familiar with the deck interactions and playstyle? or maybe a combination of both? I am currently building ANT but to be fair I never gave TES Read More »
Before anything, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your amazing support. I didn't know the first article would have such an effect on this hidden player base The EPIC Storm seems to have. I'm glad this fills a need we never expected to be that big. The kind words on Cockatrice from some of you were really appreciated. With that said, let's get Read More »
The EPIC Storm approaches the Magdalen coast
While winning a GP is the goal of most Storm players, some of us are trapped to a LGS, or even worse, around a kitchen table, unable to even dream about moving forward with their decks. However, we’re still addicted. These Tendrils of Agony must be spread out. With no local game store, but with plenty of friends living on an Island, 250km Read More »
GP Lille is in the books and what a blast it was! Close to 1700 Legacy aficionados battled for the crown in this year's only European Legacy Grand Prix over three days. The weekend was full of trials, side events and the intense 15 round swiss main event which was followed by a Top 8 elimination which climaxed with a Miracles mirror in the finals.
My expectation for the format on Read More »
Magic: The Gathering has graced us with some fantastic cards from the new set - Magic Origins! These two hot previews are prime for the breaking. The first being a functional reprint of the classic Demonic Tutor, while the second is essentially Time Twister. Both of these cards have potential in The EPIC Storm, which one is better? I’m not quite sure.
My initial impression of this card was very Read More »
This article marks the first entry to an upcoming series to bring you closer to TES fundamentals in terms of deckbuilding and strategy. Look forward to in-depth looks at cantrip sequencing, manabases, managing of options, seizing opportunities, match psychology, board organisation, mulligan evaluation and more (requested) stuff like that. For today and as a start into this new series, I want to cover a pretty basic topic, which are the Read More »
Since StarCityGames: Worcester I’ve been evaluating each card in the sideboard meticulously trying to find the most value out of the fifteen slots that we have. Earlier today I posted a theoretical sideboard on social media, I’m here to give some more in depth reasonings to my card choices.
Abrupt Decay – There really isn’t much else to say about this card, it over performed all weekend to the point where Read More »
I begin the weekend by getting out of work early due to the holiday weekend, pick up Nick Patnode and we’re on the road. The trip isn’t long, just under four hours, mostly just sing-a-longs and figuring out strategies for the weekend. We get to Worcester hours before our friends that we’re staying with – Sam Roukas, Royce Walter and Phil Blechman. Nick and I try to get dinner at Read More »
A little over a year ago I finished my mission of getting my deck as Japanese and as foil as it could be. A few months went on and I found myself thinking, "What now?" – that's when I began my mission of getting everything signed by the artist. It's been a long road so far in one the year, I've made a lot of progress (currently at 51 of Read More »
Recent Changes with TES
Over the last few weeks there have been some changes to The EPIC Storm (TES). In talking to Kai Sawatari (Sawatarix on mtgthesource) and Peter Raab (Lemnear on mtgthesource), I was convinced to cut a discard spell in order to shove the fourth Infernal Tutor from the sideboard into the main deck. This was due to the success that Kai had at the grand prix in japan Read More »
