Card Signing

Welcome to Our Card Signing Guide!

Ever wondered how to get your Magic: The Gathering cards signed by Bryant Cook or other beloved artists? You’re in the right place! We’ve put together a comprehensive guide full of practical advice to ensure your cards travel safely and return to you ready for display. Let’s dive into the best practices for shipping and handling, and how you can connect with artists at events or through the mail.

Want to make sure your cards arrive safely? Here are some top tips:

  1. Let the artist know exactly what you’re looking for—whether it’s a signature in black ink or some custom alterations. You can do so with slips of paper in each card sleeve of the items that you’re sending in.
  2. Use protective card sleeves and top-loaders to keep your cards in mint condition during their journey.
  3. Secure them inside a sturdy envelope or a bubble mailer for extra protection.
  4. Opt for tracked and insured shipping options to safeguard your precious cargo from loss or damage.
  5. Always include a return address and make sure your contact details are easy to spot on all your packages. (For international signings, contact the person in advance for return shipping costs.)

Stick with these guidelines to avoid the common pitfalls of card shipping.

About Markers:

If you’re sending cards straight to an artist and you care about the quality of the signature, consider including a marker. Bryant recommends using oil-based Sharpies or Milwaukee Markers for newer Japanese foils to get the best results.

Tipping isn’t required but it sure is appreciated! Here’s how you can show your gratitude when sending cards for signatures:

  1. Aim to tip at least $2 per card. If you’re sending just a few, why not bump it up to $5?
  2. If you’re sending a larger batch, $2-$3 per card is a nice gesture of thanks.
  3. Pop the tip right into the package, or if the artist prefers, use PayPal and let them know the tip is on its way.
  4. Remember, artists often go out of their way to sign your cards, so tipping generously really makes a difference.

Looking to tip via PayPal? You’ll find all the details you need in the footer of this website.

Spot Bryant at Events:

You can also catch Bryant at SCG Cons and Eternal Weekend events. He’d be glad to sign your cards in person!

Request a Signature at Checkout:

If you’re purchasing something from our shop, you can request that Bryant sign your items. Just leave a note in the designated field at checkout!

Here’s how you can get those much-coveted artist signatures on your cards:

  1. In-Person Signings: The best way is to meet the artists face-to-face at conventions. Keep an eye on event schedules!
  2. Direct Mailing: Send your cards directly to the artist’s studio. Don’t forget a self-addressed stamped envelope for their journey back home.
  3. Third-Party Agents: If you have a lot of cards or special requests, artist agents like Mark Aronowitz or Matthew Schneider are your go-to.

Be Patient:

Getting your cards signed through the mail is a process that requires a bit of patience. It’s exciting, sure, but remember that good things take time. While some artists might send back your signed cards quickly, it’s more common for it to take a few months. And yes, there have been times when it’s taken over a year! Once your cards are on their way, they’re in the hands of the postal system, and neither we nor the artist can be held responsible for any loss or delays that happen during transit.

Don’t forget, every order from theepicstorm.com/shop comes with a signed Storm token. It’s our way of saying thanks for your support!
